LEARN MORE ABOUT EMILY

When many of my friends were joining the dance team and weaving elaborate friendship bracelets, I was burying my head in the tales of the original investigative journalist, Harriett the Spy, and the entrepreneurial Baby-Sitters Club. As I got older, I was fascinated by autobiographical work, especially the detailed written account that Anne Frank kept during her years in hiding. These stories helped me paint a picture in my mind, and I fell in love with storytelling as an outlet for my imagination.

I studied journalism and communication at Purdue University, though my favorite classes were persuasive and creative writing. Through a summer internship at a PR firm in Nashville, TN, I was introduced to the non-profit world and have since made a career as a fundraiser in higher education.

EHJ About 2.png

It’s a perfect job for someone who is a natural relationship builder and values authentic connection.

While I absolutely love my “day job,” it lacks the creative outlet I crave, so I began communications consulting in 2017. The work led me to start EHJ Creative, where I support artists, artisans, and creatives as a writer and communications strategist and have successfully served dozens of artists and makers.

I use my relationship building skills to help you connect with buyers and build a strong, loyal community full of eager customers.

I can provide all of your writing and communication needs. I craft bios and artist statements that set you apart from the crowd by capturing the uniqueness of your voice and brand. My offerings expand to art release notes, establishing your “why” statement, submission strategies to help get your work into galleries and shops, marketing and promotional materials, writing newsletters, and more.
